One of my favorite quotes on education is from William Butler Yeats that states, “Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire.” As the principal of Spring Hill Elementary, I have the good fortune of being in the classrooms each day seeing our teachers and staff lighting the fire of learning with students.

I’m in my third year as principal at Spring Hill Elementary. Prior to the 2007-2008 school year, I served as assistant principal at SHES for three years. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Ottawa University and completed my Master’s in School Administration from the University of Kansas. I spent many years in the classroom as a teacher primarily at the 4th and 5th grade level. Even as an administrator, whenever I get the opportunity, I love jumping into the classroom and teaching a lesson!

I am the mother of two children, Addie and Jace. My hobbies include traveling, exercising, going to concerts, cooking, entertaining, landscaping, decorating and spending time with family and friends.

Some of my favorite things:

Job: Being a principal

Color: Purple

Food: Fajitas and guacamole

Television Show:  Grey’s Anatomy

Travel Destination: Colorado

Song: Anything by James Taylor, Billy Joel, Rod Stewart and Nickelback

Children’s Movie:  Monster’s Inc. and Flushed Away

Grown-Up Movie: The Notebook

Children’s Book: Mrs. Spitzer's Garden by Edith Pattou

Season: Fall

It is a pleasure to be a part of your child’s education. I’m looking forward to a great 2009-2010 school year.
