Mastering Spring Hill History

February 14, 2012

A group of Spring Hill Middle School (SHMS) students showed off their mastery of Spring Hill history when they presented to the local Rotary Club on February 14th. Club members learned interesting facts about the area, and were impressed with the students’ knowledge of area history. The students are preparing for the MyKansas! competition, which is a statewide history contest focused on student-produced publications. The effort is led by SHMS teacher Christine Hecke and media specialist Deb Sims. They guide students through research, writing, presentation skills and ultimately the production of a Spring Hill-oriented history magazine, which is entered into the annual MyKansas! contest. SHMS students have done exceptionally well in the competition, and you can see these entries by visiting the Special Projects web page.
