Where am I?
Spring 2013 Season
Great Start for the Lady Broncos
The Lady Bronco's defense remained intact with all returning juniors;
1st Team All State Goalie Gwen Getz, Lydia Hardin, Brooke Smith, Jordan
Showers and 1st team All State defender Meagan Crooks.
The returning mid-fielders include sophomores Shelby Spradling, Megan
Hobson and Sydney Cluck. Returning attackers include junior Kaitlyn
Pritchard, and sophomore Alix Brown.
Newcomers to the Lady Broncos are previously JV sophomore players Cayley
Madsen and Charlotte Mikesell, and juniors Violetta Hamilton and
Michaela Gustafson. Rounding out the Varsity are up and coming freshman
Lydia Hardin, Taylor Boyle, Sydney Shoemaker and back up goalie Abby
Mikesell.
The first two games for the Lady Broncos got cancelled due to inclement
weather. This allowed extra practice before they opened up at home to
Tonganoxie.
They beat them 4 to 0 and the winning continued against Ottawa 7-2, and Gardner 6-3.
Kansas City Christian came to Spring Hill ranked 4th in the region and
tested the Lady Bronco's endurance. They played long and hard and were
trailing most of the game 1-0. However, late in the second half the
Lady Broncos got a second wind and were able to come back and win 2-1 in
an exciting ending to a game. Their winning streak continued with
Baeshor-Linwood 4-0, Baldwin 4-0, Desoto 2-0, Tonganoxie (again) 4-0 and
scoring 10, (putting the mercy rule into effect) on Piper, Ottawa and
Kansas City East.
The Broncos have had 8 different players scoring the goals and 9 players being involved in the assists, making them a very well rounded and dangerous team. Up to date, they have scored 59 goals and have only allowed 6.
The Lady Broncos have some challenges coming up, starting with Blue Valley North at home on Thurs., April 26 at home. They follow that up with Barstow, Bonner Springs, a revenge seeking DeSoto, and ending the regular season at Olathe North.
The rest of the season has yet to be played out, however, the Lady Broncos are enjoying their well deserved and hard earned success and are taking it one game at a time.
