Science Activities

Science at Prairie Creek Elementary School is more than just book time. Students are engaged in a variety of interactive science activities that build on knowledge and reinforce curriculum through hands-on learning.

Science Fair
Each year fourth and fifth grade students at Prairie Creek Elementary participate in the Greater Kansas City Science & Engineering Fair at Union Station. Student projects are completed and presented to the judges during Prairie Creek's Science Fair. Students earn points based on the same rubric the judges use at the annual Greater Kansas City Science & Engineering Fair. The student projects with the highest points go on to compete at Union Station in the spring.

PCES Greenhouse…Coming Soon!
In December 2009, the Spring Hill High School FFA was one of three schools nationwide to receive a National Association of Agricultural Educations/FFA Partnership in Active Learning Support Greenhouse Enhancement Grant. This $6,000 grant will be used to build a greenhouse and support science-related educational efforts at PCES! The greenhouse will be coming soon so watch for updates.
