Important Changes Made to District Calendar

January 16, 2013

In order to allow for additional security training of staff, there will be no classes for students on Wednesday, Feb. 13th. The day was originally scheduled as a two-hour early release day prior to parent-teacher conferences. However, district administration recommended to the Spring Hill Board of Education that the day is better utilized for security training for staff as well as additional professional development time. The security training, specifically intruder drills, will include all of the schools and involve law enforcement. This effort will be done to ensure that staff members are confident in procedures. In addition, improvements to the processes will be implemented as needed based on feedback from law enforcement professionals. Note that conferences will occur as planned.

In addition, no school will be held at Spring Hill Elementary, Intermediate and Middle Schools on May 23rd. This means that the last day of classes in those buildings will be on May 22nd. This time is allotted for staff members to prepare for summer construction projects and staff relocations due to building reconfigurations. Please note that Spring Hill High School and Prairie Creek Elementary School will hold classes as originally scheduled on May 23rd.
