District Receives National Communication Award

January 03, 2013

The Spring Hill School District has been named the recipient of the 2013 Leadership Through Communication Award, which is sponsored by the American Association of School Administrators, the National School Public Relations Association and Blackboard Connect. The honor is given for demonstrating exemplary leadership in the enhancement of communications to families, staff and the community.

The district’s award application outlined the progress made from 2007, when a commitment was made by the superintendent and the Spring Hill Board of Education to enhance communications, until today’s purposeful use of communications strategies. The application along with other candidates’ applications went through several rounds of review by industry professionals before two finalists were named. As one of two finalists in the nation, a team of judges visited the district and conducted focus groups and interviews to determine the national winner.

In late February, Superintendent Bart Goering and Director of Communications Christine Splichal will accept the award on behalf of the district, including a $10,000 grant to be used for communications.
