Low Balance Email Alerts Now Available for Student Meal Accounts

October 04, 2012

Families now have the option of signing up for daily email notifications when students’ meal accounts have a low balance of $5 and under.  The new Skyward Family Access function is a convenient tool to help on-the-go families stay ahead of the game, and help negate finding printed reminders crumpled up in the bottom of backpacks.

The email reminders will be automatically sent for each meal account when it reaches a $5 balance, and will be sent daily with an updated balance below that amount.

To opt in to the new email notifications, follow these simple instructions:
1.    Log into Skyward Family Access
2.    Click on Email Notifications in the left-hand menu
3.    Select the “Change My Notifications” button
4.    Click in the box to “Receive Notifications When Food Service Balance is Under $5” and Save

Please note that parents and guardians will need to follow these easy steps for each student. If you haven’t signed up for Skyward Family Access, please contact your school’s office.

Once the notification option is set up, an email will be sent when a student’s balance is at or below $5. The email will read as follows:

At the end of today, <Today's Date>, the payor account for <Payor Name> had a balance of $<Payor Balance>, which is below the low balance alert amount of $<Low Balance Amount>. For additional information regarding menus, nutrition, free/reduced benefits and more, visit the Nutrition Services' web site at http://www.usd230.org/parentsstudents/nutrition_services/. Thank you.

Families are encouraged to use this new service as well as visit Skyward Family Access on a regular basis to stay updated about student information. This system is part of the district’s ongoing commitment to strong school-to-home partnerships.
