Retirees and Staff Members Recognized at Annual Closing Ceremony
May 29, 2012
All district staff members and special guests gathered on May 25th to celebrate the year’s accomplishments and also honor employees for years of service, including eight retirees. Nels G. Anderson, P.E., president of the Spring Hill Board of Education, helped open the celebration and recapped some of the many successes that have occurred during the 2012-13 school year.
The event, based around the year-long theme of Flight 2012, also wrapped up an extensive professional development program for teachers. Teachers who had participated and logged more than 50 frequent flier miles this year were eligible for a drawing of Southwest Airline tickets. The four winners each received a $100 credit toward an airline ticket.
In addition, a long list of employees was recognized for their years of service. Beginning with five-year anniversaries, honors continued for employees that had achieved 35 years of service. Please see the document below for a full listing of the honorees.
This year, eight staff members retired from the district. These people included Karen Brown, Dr. Angelo Cocolis, John Cound, Nancy Huck, Cherry Luther, June Seavey, Jean Timberlake, and Lonnie Vopat.
The event wrapped up with a bang, as all teachers received an iPad to use in their classrooms next school year. The iPads will replace outdated technology and give teachers additional flexibility in their delivery of curriculum.
Thank you to all district staff members who helped make the 2012-13 school year successful!
