| Many toys that were made and purchased during the war years had something to do with war, and playing war games. The cannons below are examples. |

These toy cannons are made mostly of wood. There is very little metal on them because metal was needed for the war effort. Many, many toys of the time period were made of wood or paper. |
| The cannon on the right is a marble shooter. You put the marble in the cannon and pull the red handle back, let go, and it will shoot the marble. Again this cannon is made out of mostly wood. | ![]() |

Here is an example of a rolling, mobile cannon. As you can see there are wheels, but they are not made out of rubber, they're actually made out of wood. Rubber was rationed throughout the war and very scarce so there wouldn't have been any for toys. |
